West Virginia state law says meetings of governmental bodies generally have to be open to the public.
But what is a "meeting" and what are "open government proceedings"?
The public is entitled to notice of such meetings, but as they say, "the devil is in the details."

Dan Ringer has worked with West Virginia Public Broadcasting as a volunteer since 1987 in several capacities, including as co-host of 2 prior public affairs series - On the Line With ... and Stateline Friday. He has also hosted numerous WV PBS specials concerning education, voters' rights, and political candidate debates. In 1999 Dan was named WV's first Lawyer Citizen of the Year of the WV Bar Foundation. He served as president of the WV State Bar 1999-2000 and was named the Practitioner of the Year by the American Bar Association in 2000. Dan practices law in Morgantown. |
